Kota Kinabalu, Chinese New Year of the Dragon and Slightly Dodgy Maths

IMG_1791Tallest mountain in Southeast Asia at 4,095m, Kota Kinabalu on Malaysian Borneo was a pretty stunning way to welcome in sunrise, at the dawn of the Lunar New Year of the Dragon.  Science removed 6m from KK’s official height in 1997 – sounds a bit suspect to me.  January 2012.

IMG_1309Georgetown, capital of Penang, Malaysia and UNESCO World Heritage Site, of pastel doors and windows fame.  La Maison Bleu, Cheong Fatt Tze’s Mansion, combines influences from the owner’s Chinese roots and late 19th Century entrepreneurial success, making him ‘one of the most historic and colourful personalities of the era’ (Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion).  April 2011.
